Background to Patons Lane Resource Recovery Centre

BINGO’s Patons Lane Resource Recovery Centre (RRC) and Landfill is located at 123-179 Patons Lane, Orchard Hills within the former Erskine Park Quarry.

The site operates under a State Significant Development approval (MP09_0074) as a resource recovery centre and landfill for commercial and industrial (C&I) and construction and demolition (C&D) wastes (non-putrescible general solid waste).

The approval was granted in August 2012 by the NSW Land and Environment Court. However, the landfill has not been operational since 2020.

We are committed to achieving the best social, economic and environmental outcomes and to ensuring proactive and transparent communication with the community.

The Conditions of Consent of the Project Approval for Patons Lane Resource Recycling Centre (Patons Lane RRC) outlines the community liaison actions required by the Proponent. Patons Lane RRC is well advanced in providing all of the minimum requirements stipulated in the Conditions.

Bingo Industries Limited Group (Bingo), the new owner of the project, is committed to maintaining best practice communication with the local community and will ensure the Conditions continue to be met and, where appropriate, exceeded. Although requirements for community liaison are limited to the implementation of a public information website and a Community Liaison Committee, Bingo recognises the need to provide the Orchard Hills community with ongoing access to the most up to date information on the development of Patons Lane RRC and opportunities to express their views.

Experienced and IAP2 qualified community engagement and communication specialists assist in the development and implementation of a continuing community liaison strategy.
