Patons Lane RRC history

Erskine Park Quarries (the site of Paton’s Lane RRC) was first approved as a clay and shale quarry in 1980.

In 2002, Orchard Holdings Pty Ltd acquired the site and began illegally receiving waste even though the Environment Protection Licence only allowed extraction (of 130,000 tonnes per annum).

In 2007, Orchard Holdings Pty Ltd declared bankruptcy and the site was sold to Dellara Pty Ltd in 2008.

From April 2010 to September 2011, Dellara Pty Ltd developed a series of landfill proposals for the Orchard Hills site. Each proposal was more modified than the last in response to concerns expressed by Penrith Council and local residents.[1] Consent was given for a highly modified proposal (incorporating significant resource recovery initiatives) by the NSW Land and Environment Court in August 2012 – approximately one month after Dellara Pty Ltd was placed in Administration.

In March 2015, SRC Pty Ltd purchased the approval and site from the Administrators (Rodgers Reidy) and engaged Möbius Partners to manage the implementation of the L&E Court Consent – to commence operation of the landfill and resource recovery centre.

Möbius Partners identified every individual action noted in the Conditions of Consent and supporting documentation and developed a project management framework and critical path which would prepare the project for the commencement of operations.

BINGO Industries Limited (Bingo) completed the acquisition of the Patons Lane Resource Recovery Centre (RRC) site on 11 December 2017.

The purchase supports Bingo’s strategy and continued growth, providing another important waste processing, recycling and landfill solution adjacent to the Western Sydney Priority Growth Area.

Patons Lane RRC will be a key long term strategic asset for Bingo, adding to its current network of waste management and recycling facilities operating across New South Wales and Victoria.

The Patons Lane RRC project will move into its Site Establishment phase early in 2018.
